Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Sindy’s love for art started when her parents bought her first set of crayons. At the tender age of 5, she (was) entered (in) her first competition and won the prestigious prize of… another set of crayons.
Since then, Sindy has explored the many facets of art. She spent time focusing on music throughout high school, learning and performing Indonesian ethnic music for various art festivals; then decided to dive into literature for her bachelor’s degree. In 2010, she graduated with an M.F.A. in Advertising from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco which took her back to visual arts.
When she is not designing, Sindy spends her time playing with her monsterrific nephews, and jotting down stanzas and storylines. Sindy, along with her co-authors, has two books published in Indonesian: a collection of short stories entitled Penggambar Mimpi (2009), and a flash fiction anthology – 100 stories, each 100 words long – called Seratus Kata (2011).
She still finds the time to write and hopes to someday publish another book, but for now she’s super excited to inspire a happier world with Delivering Happiness. ;]
Sindy is inspired by children, her former music teacher (the most creative and talented person she knows), beautiful sad things, and sad beautiful things.
